12th November 2023 marks the 185th anniversary since our founding partner, Samuel Sharman, signed his Articles of Clerkship, thereby commencing an internship to become a solicitor, and laying the foundations for five generations of Sharman’s to practice the law continuously under the family name.
It wasn’t until 1852, just over 170 years ago, that Samuel set up his own practice with offices in Princes Building, North John Street, Liverpool. For many years he acted as agent for the Blundell family who owned land at Little Crosby at least since the time of Sir Robert Blundell (c. 1210 -1278) and lived close by.
Samuel Sharman died in 1886 and is buried at St. Mary’s Church, Little Crosby. His gravestone reads ‘He was for many years a valued and trustworthy agent at Crosby Hall and his loss is deeply deplored’. He was succeeded by his son Hubert Sharman.
Today, Sharman Solicitors is based in Crosby, a stone’s throw from the Blundell Family seat, and five generations later is in the hands of Peter Sharman and his business partner Mark Burnett. You can find out more about the Sharman family and our company’s story in the Our History page on the Sharman Solicitors website.
